The Brooklyn Skillshare is a community-based, community-led, and community-building learning event organized and taught by Brooklyn residents.

The Brooklyn Skillshare is a communal, hands-on, learning experience that aims to serve as a jumping-off point in the construction of an autonomous, nonexclusive, reciprocal learning community.

This year's Skillshare will be held on October 9th, 2010 at the Brooklyn Community Arts & Media High School in Bed-Stuy. The day will consist of 5 blocks of hour long classes, with 4-5 classes taking place per block (roughly 20-25 classes total). Participants can attend as many or as few classes as they like, but are encouraged to make a day of learning.

Last year's Skillshare was held at the Gowanus Studio space. Classes included: how to brew kombucha, massage basics, bike mechanics 101, screenprinting, raw food preparation, fiber arts, jewelry casting, d-i-y electronics, home audio production, making your own butter and ricotta, and more.

There are other Skillshare schemes linked on their site.
